About Barrett Enterprises and Mr. Dub Enterprises:

Located on 1960 acres in Walker and Madison Counties, the Barrett tree farm is recognized as an exemplary pine forest, having been named the Outstanding Tree Farm of Texas in 2000.

The land has been in Kay Barrett's family for many generations and came under the direct management of Bill and Kay Barrett in 1974. Working from that time with professional forestry consultants, the Barretts increased the volume of timber on the land more than ten-fold during their management.

In 2009, Bill and Kay transferred ownership of the forestland to their three daughters. At that time, the girls formed Mr. Dub Enterprises, honoring their grandfather W.D. (Mr. Dub) McAdams. Wayne Pfluger and Mark Tays of Lone Star Forestry, located in Huntsville, consult with and assist members of Mr. Dub Enterprises as they continue the same strict stewardship practices that have been in place for almost 40 years under the management of the Barrett family.

Mr. Dub Enterprises utilizes the USDA programs of CSP, EQIP and WHIP to improve their forest.  Participation in these programs promotes activities like prescribed burning, thinning and planting of previously undesirable tracts--resulting in improved pine stands and enhanced environment for the native wildlife that roams the property.
